Not sure whose dog singer/songwriter Freedy Johnston has in his arms, but one thing's for sure - Johnston's new release, Rain on the City, on Bar/None is something worth howling about. It's his first recording of original material since 2001. Recorded and produced in Nashville by Richard McLaurin, Rain on the City could be one of Freedy's finest and one of the best records released this year (so far!).

Does it feel like 1975? The Dwight Twilley Band, via Oklahoma City, hit the charts with "I'm on Fire," signed to a small Los Angeles-based record company, Shelter Records, formed by Leon Russell and Denny Cordell. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers were labelmates. Under appreciated, the killer pop duo of Twilley and Phil Seymour finally took turns to solo projects, then...Not to worry, Boy Wonder abides!
