B.W.'s PLAYLIST/ KHSU-FM, 90.5/ SAT., 15 AUG. 09

It is with great sadness that I learned the news of Jim Dickinson's passing early this morning, in his sleep while recuperating from heart surgery, in Memphis (pictured here in 1965). Dickinson, a Memphis legend, icon and personality, known for his production (Big Star, The Replacements), his musicianship (Mudboy & the Neutrons , Ry Cooder, Bob Dylan), and his larger-than-life zeal and character. Father of Luther and Cody Dickinson (The North Mississippi All-Stars), Jim will be dearly missed. Check out the Memphis daily, The Commercial Appeal, for a detailed tribute.
