Memphis reared, Charles 'Packy' Axton, son the legendary Stax Records co-founder, Estelle Axton, was a sax player who formed early groups with Steve Cropper, Wayne Jackson (both appear in this photo with Axton, far right) , Duck Dune, Teenie Hodges, among others who would be known in '60s Memphis soul scene (namely Stax and Hi Records). Light in the Attic collected Axton's various groups he led between 1965-67 and released the excellent compilation, Charles 'Packy' Axton: Late Late Party.
