The Essex Green was formed in Brooklyn, NY by former members of Burlington, VT's Guppypuppy (singer/guitarist Chris Ziter, singer/keyboardist Sasha Bell, guitarist Jeff Baron and bassist Mike Barrett), with the addition of Tim Barnes on drums. Their final record as a band was a crowning pop achievement, with 2006 Cannibal Sea. Eventually, Bell and guitarist Baron would join Ladybug Transistor.
